Typhoon Hagibis made landfall on the Izu Peninsula in Japan at 7:00 p.m. Saturday local time, bringing heavy downpours and winds.

The country remains at its highest alert level after Japan Meteorological Agency issued an emergency warning over the typhoon in Tokyo and six prefectures in the afternoon.
