Palestinian president's spokesperson says U.S. not learn from "failure" of Manama workshop
2019-06-30

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh on Saturday said that "the U.S. administration has not learnt anything from the fiasco of the Manama workshop."

"The significant failure of the Manama workshop ... should send a clear message to Trump ... that the policy of dictates, threats and coercion is no longer effective with our steadfast people," Abu Rudeineh said in a statement published by official Palestinian news agency WAFA.

"The U.S. president relies on a team that is totally biased toward Israel, which cannot offer solutions leading to a lasting and just peace," the statement added.

Last week, Bahrain and the United States jointly organized a two-day economic workshop in Manama under the title "Peace to Prosperity," which was opposed by the Palestinians.

The Palestinian Authority declared the boycott of the U.S. administration since it recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital in December 2017 and moved its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem last May.

The U.S. administration has taken several steps against Palestinians, including shutting down the Palestine Liberation Organization office in Washington and cutting aid to the only UN agency providing support to the Palestinian refugees.
